What are Specialties and Visit Type Prompts
Autochart.ai's Specialties feature enables clinicians to customize documentation by adding multiple specialties aligned with their practice. This provides access to specialty-specific prompts that enhance contextual accuracy for generating more relevant clinical notes.
How to Use Specialty and Visit Type Prompt
Before the Consultation: Set up your specialties and prompts using the steps below so they appear in the recording window every time you open it. Be sure to set your defaults so they load automatically.
During the Consultation: Use the dropdown menus in the recording window to select the specialty and prompt relevant to the encounter. If the default specialty or prompt isn't suitable, simply click the dropdown to choose another option.
How to Select Specialties, Visit Types, and Defaults
1. Selecting and Managing Specialties
- Go to Settings > AI Settings > Specialties
- Choose from a comprehensive dropdown list, including specialties like Family Medicine, Cardiology, Dermatology, and more
- Add multiple specialties to suit your practice needs, and all will appear in the dropdown menu during recordings
Tip: The list is long so use the search function to quickly find what you need. Just click into any box and start typing.
2. Favoriting and Setting Defaults
- Mark a specialty as your default by clicking the star icon next to it
- Default specialties load automatically when you start a new recording session, saving time and ensuring consistency
- If you add multiple specialties, they will all show up in the Specialty dropdown when you open the recording window. If you don't want the default one, just click on the dropdown and choose another specialty
3. Archiving Specialties
- Archive any specialty that's no longer relevant to declutter your active list
- Easily restore archived specialties by clicking on the Show Archived checkmark
4. Customizing Visit Type Prompts
Prompts for each specialty provide additional context to the AI, enabling better outputs. A list of pre-made prompts is automatically loaded when you select a specialty. Click the chevron next to the chosen specialty to view them all.
To view the instructions within a prompt, simply click on it. To set a default prompt for this specialty, click the checkmark.
Tip: Instead of modifying existing prompts, copy the language of an existing prompt you like into a new custom prompt and make your changes there. Then regenerate your note using first the original prompt, then with your custom prompt, and compare outputs. Continue to fine-tune your custom prompt until you achieve the desired output.
To add a new prompt simply click on the plus (+) button.
