How to Use the Command Palette and Keyboard Shortcuts

The command palette is a searchable menu that lets you jump to any page or run common actions without using the mouse. Type what you want, pick it from the list and press Enter.

How to open it

  • Windows: Press Ctrl+K. If that does not work, press Ctrl+/.
  • Mac: Press Cmd+K. If that does not work, press Cmd+/.

How to use it

  1. Open the palette.
  2. Start typing to search, for example "patients" or "new encounter."
  3. Use the up and down arrow keys to move through the results.
  4. Press Enter to run the highlighted command.
  5. Press Esc to close the palette without running anything.

When a command has a keyboard shortcut, it is shown on the right side of that command. Press ? at any time to see a help list of all shortcuts.

Keyboard shortcuts

| Action | Windows | Mac | | --- | --- | --- | | Open the command palette | Ctrl+K | Cmd+K | | Open the command palette (backup shortcut) | Ctrl+/ | Cmd+/ | | Show shortcut help | ? | ? | | Close the palette | Esc | Esc | | Go to My Charts | Ctrl+Shift+1 | Cmd+Shift+1 | | Start a New Encounter | Ctrl+Shift+E | Cmd+Shift+E |

Commands in the palette

These commands do not have their own shortcut. Open the palette and search for them.

  • Go to My Charts
  • Go to Scheduled, Saved or Incomplete
  • Go to Patients
  • New Encounter
  • Open last chart
  • Go to AI Settings
  • Keyboard shortcuts help

When a note is open, the palette also offers these note actions:

  • Copy rich text
  • Copy simple text
  • Send note by email
  • Regenerate note

Troubleshooting

  • The shortcut does nothing: Click anywhere on the Autochart.ai page first so it has focus, then try again. Your browser or another app may be using Ctrl+K or Cmd+K, so try the backup shortcut Ctrl+/ or Cmd+/.
  • I cannot find a note action: Copy, email and regenerate only appear while a note is open. Open an encounter from Encounters -> Completed first.
  • A page I want is not listed: Pages such as Patients and Scheduled only show when your plan and settings include them.
  • I do not remember a shortcut: Press ? to see the full list.
